The first real snow storm of the season, and right on schedule - all three of the local news programs went ape shit.    Typical overreactions and overestimates of the amount of snow…  but the sad thing is, it is really necessary for them to do that because of the sheer amount of people who somehow forget how to drive as soon as there is more than a half-inch of snow on the ground. 

So then you have the overconfident people driving way too fast, the scared people driving way too slow, and the reasonable people that are right in the middle - watching what happens to the people at the opposite ends of the spectrum.    Granted, I haven’t had to go out in this recent snow, but I still know how this whole “first snow of the season” crap works.

I don’t think we even got a full inch where I live, yet there were schools canceled and on delay…  but probably due more to the blowing snow and white-outs rather than the actual accumulation.  Meh…  hopefully everyone will be as safe as possible and make it through this without any big incidents.
