I’ve had a rough, rough week.
Lots of really stressful things happening all at once, compounded with the fact that I got horribly sick for several days - it just made for an awful way to spend the week of Christmas this year.
It started the day before Christmas, and I’ve been in and out of the hospital a few times between now and then. I wasn’t able to eat, drink, or stop throwing up for almost five days… so you can imagine how I felt.
Not only was I dehydrated and weak from puking and not eating, but I also wasn’t able to take my meds because they would always come back up. And these meds for my neck and shoulder injury… I take a lot of them, and I’ve taken them for years - so suddenly not having any of them in my body for a week just completely kicked my ass.
I thought I was gonna die.
The first two visits to the ER were worthless, as they didn’t do much of anything for me, but finally on the third visit they actually ran blood and urine tests and determined what was wrong. So they hooked me up to an IV, pumped a couple bags of saline and various other meds into me, which was enough to give me a boost out of the hole I was in, so to speak.
They think that the stress weakened my immune system, and then probably some kind of bacteria or germ around the house, from when I cleaned all the crud, ended up getting into my system and wiping me out.
A lot of the stress is still here, but at least the “being sick” part has passed. Hopefully for good, but I’m only about a day out of it right now so keep your fingers crossed for me.
It helped last night that I got out of the house and went to my cousin’s house for New Year’s Eve. I actually went very early in the evening, thinking that I wouldn’t be able to do the whole “party thing” but I ended up feeling good enough to stay until after midnight.
Toni made potato skins, little smokeys, cookies, cheese balls, etc… and that was the first food since Christmas that I was able to eat, enjoy, and keep down.
It was really fun, with various friends and family coming and going throughout the night - with the most entertaining visit being from Mongo and Booger. *laugh* Let’s just say that they were definitely enjoying their evening.
