December 22, 2011 -- Work Day
I went to the auction for the first time in months yesterday.  While there wasn’t a ton of stuff that interested me, I was still able to grab a few things that I wanted / needed and got out of there for under twenty bucks.  I bought a box full of crap for five bucks that contained a new molded wood toilet seat that I needed, as well as a generic pink Snuggie and pink fuzzy socks for...

December 20, 2011 -- Oush
Woke up this morning to the loud *crack* of something in my neck, followed immediately by a shooting pain down my left arm.    It’s been a while since I’ve had one of those, but I did the usual thing and just stayed completely still for a minute until I was sure I hadn’t severed my spinal cord.   There isn’t really any “relax and go back to sleep” after...

December 19, 2011 -- Christmas Tree Pix
I just realized that I hadn’t uploaded the pictures of Cassi and I decorating the tree this year…  but when I sent them to Flickr and tried to make a slideshow like I normally would, I discovered that Tumblr apparently doesn’t allow slideshows to be embedded like I used to do.    (Either that, or something is wonky with my computer.  )  So I’m gonna try uploading them...

December 19, 2011 -- The Stash
The other day some of us went out to Roxy’s near Sugar Grove to see my cousin Chris and their band play.  I believe it was their first official gig, but you wouldn’t know it from the way they sounded.    It’s not like they are n00bs though…  I’m pretty sure every member has been in a variety of other band projects before they started this one. They recorded some...

December 18, 2011 -- The Appcast
There’s a podcast called The Appcast that I’ve listened to for nearly as long as I’ve owned an iPod.  I never sent in any listener feedback until recently, and wouldn’t you know it - after sending them an e-mail a few days ago, they decided to read it “on the air” in the latest podcast.  Click here to listen to the whole thing:  The Appcast - Episode 141  (Jump...

December 17, 2011 -- Secret Santa
After I finished up at the apartment, I went as planned and played “Secret Santa” to the people that live down the street from there.    I’m not posting about it again to brag that I did it, but more because it just makes me feel good. In case you haven’t been keeping up on the blog, the people I’m talking about live in a house a little ways over from where I lived,...

December 17, 2011 -- OUT!
I finally got done with everything over at the apartment today.    I know that most people “move” in a day or two, but I’ve never done it that way.  My brain would start to smoke if I had to make sure everything got done in that short of a time-span.  But for doing the bulk of it on the 13th, and now being completely done today, I think I did pretty good for my broken ol’...

December 16, 2011 -- Lucky
I know that I might be bitching a little about the hassle of moving…  but really, I’m pretty lucky.  Being the middle of December, this could have been a whole lot different.  I mean, I remember once in Jr High that our first “snow day” was on December 6th…  heh…  so yeah, at least there’s that.

December 15, 2011 -- Easy?
Next time that I decide I want to move, remind me that I don’t.    Even with the movers doing the bulk of the work, I’ve still been running back and forth with loads of “small stuff” in the car, to bring into the new place. I don’t like to complain about my wonky shoulder, but man is it frustrating to do stuff like this with only one good arm.  Normally someone would...

December 14, 2011 -- Settling In
I just realized that I haven’t posted that much about the activities of the past couple of days.  Everything went extra-smoothly, so it didn’t end up being nearly as stressful as I was anticipating.    I hired Campbell’s Moving to get my stuff from “there to here” and they certainly didn’t mess around. Three guys showed up and emptied my apartment of the big...

December 13, 2011 -- Fast
Go the main PC assembled and running again… Wow.    Now I have to decide if I even wanna bother trying to get the ol’ webcam server machine up and churning out images once more.  It used to be the one directly connected to the modem, but now my main PC has that honor…  not sure the old one can even be configured for wireless, now that I think about it.

This “fake” log is burning a little more frantically than usual. I guess it is mimicking me, since I’ve been a little wound up with all the crap that I was doing today. *shrug* Not sure if you’ll be able to tell once the video is compressed and uploaded.

December 12, 2011 -- Waiting
I hate waiting for cable appointments. It’s an hour and 40 minutes into my “service window” and so far I haven’t heard anything, nor has he shown up. I know, he’s still got 20 minutes, but a person help but get nervous - thinking they may have been forgotten. And I love their new policy. The installer is supposed to call you when they are on the way, and if you don’t answer their call you get...

December 11, 2011 -- That's All, Folks!
It makes me nervous just thinking about it… heh…  (which shows how much I need to be connected to everything and everyone on the ‘net) but it is time for me to pull the plug on the ol’ cable modem so I can take it and the wireless router over to the new homestead.  If all goes as planned, I’m barely going to notice this blip of “unconnected-ness” since...

December 11, 2011 -- Downtime
In regards to the cable and internet getting switched over, which I talked about below, that means there is also going to be some downtime on the site.  Actually, it’ll probably only concern the webcam page, since I can do blog updates and other stuff via my phone if I want to - but getting the computer(s) set up over at the other place might take a little while. And to be honest, I’m...

December 11, 2011 -- Out & About
I had a busy day yesterday.  More running around town, taking care of things relating to the upcoming move, plus then I went over to General Sherman and met up with Matt and Toni to watch Anna’s basketball game. On one hand it is frustrating watching 10 and 11 year old kids play…  but on the other hand, there are a few girls that have better fundamentals and dribbling skills than I...

December 10, 2011 -- Strange
Why is it that people can say some pretty shitty things to you, then think that you are gonna be fine about it and be all friendly and wanna talk the next day?  See, that’s not how it works. At least not with me. Most of the time I try to be a decent, kind, understanding, and helpful person. However, if I feel like that is being taken for granted, it starts to change how I feel. ...

December 9, 2011 -- More Christmas Thoughts
Every time the holiday season rolls around each year, it just puts me in a better overall mood.  The lights, the music, the old Christmas specials on TV, decorating the tree, waiting for the first big snow, etc…   all of it just adds up to me having a smile on my face for a much longer time than usual.  I often mistakenly think that everyone else feels the “warmth” of the...

WatchWatch
The way that Tumblr processes their videos, you might have to let the whole thing buffer before you will be able to watch any of it.    Oh, and keep your finger near the volume controls…  this video does have music, and depending on the settings of your computer it may be loud music.  You have been warned. Now please enjoy an hour of Christmas tree decorating in 3 minutes.

December 8, 2011 -- Tedious
For most of the day I took a break from the physical part of moving, and instead I spent the day taking care of the tedious clerical part of moving.  So many people and companies that need to be informed of my new information.  Even with all that crap-work today, I still found a couple of hours to go over to the new place.  I cleaned out a good portion of the garage to make space for firewood...

December 7, 2011 -- Mixed Emotions
I definitely have mixed emotions about the holidays anymore.  I’m talking about Thanksgiving and Christmas, the two holidays when our local family would always have our biggest celebrations / gatherings. That’s how it works, you see…   you are basically born into a family “time” in which you will always base your opinion of those holidays, as well as the ones after...

December 2, 2011 -- Booked Up
It might be hard to reach over the next few weeks due to moving, appointments, and then the holidays. Trying to keep a balance between getting stuff done and not letting my brain fizzle from worrying about dumb shit… heh
